Health Anxiety Support with Richard

Stop Letting Health Worries Control Your Life

Does every new sensation leave you worrying that something serious has been missed?

Richard’s personalised Anxiety Breakthrough Formula could help you break the cycle of body checking, reassurance-seeking and imagining the worst — so you can feel safer, trust yourself and start enjoying life again.

If You Live With Health Anxiety, You Know How Exhausting It Can Be

You may notice a pain, palpitation, headache, lump or unfamiliar sensation and immediately fear that something is seriously wrong.

You might search online, examine your body, ask somebody for reassurance or arrange a medical appointment.

For a little while, you may feel relieved. But before long, the doubt returns:

“What if the doctor missed something?”
“What if the test was done too early?”
“What if this is a new symptom?”
“What if I have ignored something important?”

Health anxiety is more than simply caring about your health. It is when worries about being ill or becoming ill begin taking over your thoughts and everyday life. Common signs include checking your body, repeatedly seeking reassurance, searching for health information and worrying that medical tests have missed something.

The sensations you notice can feel real. The fear can feel urgent. The effect it has on your sleep, relationships, concentration and ability to enjoy life is real too.

You are not being dramatic, difficult or attention-seeking.

Health Anxiety Can Take Many Different Forms

Searching Symptoms Online

You repeatedly search symptoms and leave each search feeling more frightened rather than reassured.

Checking Your Body

You examine lumps, marks, moles, your pulse, breathing or other sensations for signs of illness.

Seeking Reassurance

You ask family, friends, doctors or other professionals to confirm that nothing is wrong.

Worrying That Something Was Missed

A clear test or medical opinion may provide temporary relief, but doubt soon returns.

Avoiding Medical Appointments

You may delay appointments, tests or screening because you are frightened of what might be discovered.

Heart-Related Fears

Palpitations, chest sensations or changes in your heartbeat may lead to fears about heart attacks or other cardiac problems.

Breathing and Lung Fears

A cough, breathlessness or chest tightness may become evidence in your mind that something serious is wrong.

Cancer Fears

You may repeatedly worry about cancer, check particular areas of your body or fear receiving test results.

Neurological Fears

Headaches, dizziness, tingling, muscle twitches or changes in sensation may lead to fears about neurological illness.

Digestive and Bowel Fears

Stomach discomfort, bowel changes or nausea may lead to fears about serious gastrointestinal conditions.

Skin and Mole Checking

You may repeatedly examine marks, patches or moles and struggle to accept reassurance.

Infection and Contamination Fears

You may fear germs, viruses, food poisoning, sexually transmitted infections or becoming ill after contact with other people.

Medication and Side-Effect Fears

You may feel frightened about starting medication, experiencing side effects or having an adverse reaction.

Health Anxiety After Illness

The worry may have begun after a genuine illness, diagnosis, medical procedure or frightening health experience.

Post-COVID Health Worries

An experience of COVID-19 may have left you highly alert to breathing, fatigue, heart rate or other physical changes.

Pregnancy and Postnatal Health Anxiety

Pregnancy or becoming a parent may increase fears about your health or the health of your baby.

Shifting Health Fears

Once one illness has been ruled out, your mind may move towards another possible condition.

Fear of Sudden Medical Emergencies

You may worry about having a heart attack, stroke, aneurysm or another emergency without warning.

People experiencing health anxiety may alternate between seeking frequent medical reassurance and avoiding health information or appointments because they fear what might be found. Anxiety can also create physical sensations, such as headaches or a racing heartbeat, which may then be interpreted as signs of illness.

You may experience one of these difficulties or several of them together. Richard’s approach is personalised around how health anxiety affects you.

Break Free From Panic Attacks

“I had a few different issues in my life I wanted to resolve. After going through every medical test for IBS and finding no solution. Along with some very personal men’s issues (ED/PE), which I also went through various medical tests, but equally to no avail. Eventually these all got to the stage where it felt they were controlling and ruining my life.

So I after reading through Richard’s website all seemed quite promising. All my issues were listed as being treatable. Being quite a sceptical person, I thought I would try the free consultation and see if I could be helped. (Hey nothing to lose).

After meeting Richard and discussing my major issues, I thought I’d throw in that I had issues with heights. Turns out and initially I had issues believing. ED/PE, IBS and a fear of heights were all the same issue, Anxiety.

Now to be honest I had visions of being laid on a couch, with a watch being waved over my head, and waking up cured. When I was told that I would resolve this myself, my scepticism levels rose. However after having just a couple of sessions I could clearly see, and feel the change in myself.

I now feel so proud of how I have completely changed my life. Richard’s guidance and brilliant way of helping me understand what I needed to do was priceless.

Thank you Richard for all your help. I am so happy in what I have achieved.

Steve”

Health Anxiety Can Create a Repeating Cycle

1. You Notice Something

You become aware of a pain, mark, bodily change or unfamiliar physical sensation.

2. Your Mind Moves to the Worst Explanation

You may think:

“What if this is cancer?”
“What if I am having a heart attack?”
“What if this is the start of something serious?”
“What if the doctor missed it?”
“What if I wait and it is too late?”

3. Anxiety Increases

Your heart may race, your breathing may change, your muscles may tense or your stomach may feel unsettled.

These anxiety sensations may then feel like further evidence that something is wrong.

4. You Try to Find Certainty

You may:

Search symptoms online
Check your body
Ask somebody for reassurance
Book another appointment
Compare your symptoms with other people’s experiences
Avoid activity in case it is unsafe
Avoid appointments because you fear the result

5. You Feel Brief Relief

A clear result or reassuring answer may calm you temporarily.

6. The Doubt Returns

You notice another sensation, question the reassurance or begin worrying about a different illness.

Checking, reassurance and avoidance may provide short-term relief while keeping attention focused on possible illness. NHS health-anxiety guidance recommends gradually reducing these behaviours and returning to activities that have been avoided.

The problem is not that you are deliberately choosing to worry.

The process may have become an automatic pattern that repeatedly pulls you back into fear.

You May Have Spent Years Looking for Certainty

You may have tried:

  • Speaking with your GP
  • Attending repeated medical appointments
  • Having tests or private investigations
  • Asking family members for reassurance
  • Searching medical websites
  • Checking your pulse, skin or body
  • Monitoring symptoms in a diary
  • Avoiding health programmes or illness stories
  • Avoiding exercise or certain foods
  • Counselling
  • CBT
  • Medication
  • Meditation or breathing exercises
  • Self-help books and podcasts
  • Trying to reason with yourself

Medical advice and appropriate tests are important when symptoms are new, persistent, changing or unexplained.

But once you have been medically assessed, you may still find that reassurance does not last and that your mind quickly finds another reason to worry.

That does not mean you have failed.

It may mean the anxiety pattern surrounding your health still needs support.

The NHS lists CBT and medication for anxiety among the recognised treatment options for health anxiety, and health anxiety is also supported through NHS Talking Therapies.

Stop Spending Every Day Looking for the Next Sign of Illness

The Anxiety Breakthrough Formula is Richard’s personalised eight-session programme for people whose lives are being held back by anxiety, fear, checking and self-doubt.

The programme does not diagnose physical symptoms or replace medical investigations or treatment.

Instead, Richard focuses on the anxiety surrounding your health concerns and the patterns that may keep pulling you back into fear.

Together, you may explore:

  • What first triggered your health worries
  • Which illnesses or symptoms you fear
  • How you interpret normal or unfamiliar sensations
  • What happens when you begin feeling anxious
  • How often you check, research or seek reassurance
  • Why medical reassurance may not feel convincing
  • What activities you avoid because they feel unsafe
  • How health worries affect your sleep and concentration
  • How the fear has affected your confidence
  • What you want your life to look like instead

The aim is to help you understand your personal anxiety loop, respond differently to uncertainty and begin trusting yourself again.

Richard’s approach draws on his experience helping clients understand and change the thinking and emotional patterns connected with anxiety. His established practice has long offered a free confidential consultation and emphasised treating each enquiry with confidence and consideration.

Frequently Asked Questions

How long will it take before I start to feel a difference?

Many clients tell me they begin to feel better during the consultation itself. Having their symptoms properly explained, gaining a clearer understanding of what is happening and seeing why they feel the way they do can be enlightening.

For some people, it is the first time in a long time that they have felt there may genuinely be light at the end of the tunnel.

How much does the programme cost, and can I pay in instalments?

The full programme costs £999.

You can pay in full or spread the cost across three payments of £333.

We can discuss the payment options during your consultation so that everything is clear before you make a decision.

How do I know this will work for me when other things haven’t?

Our approach is different because we focus on how you may be unintentionally creating and maintaining your anxiety symptoms.

Together, we identify your individual anxiety formula so that you can understand exactly what keeps the cycle going and learn how to reverse it.

Once you can see your formula in action, you cannot unsee it. That understanding can be incredibly freeing and allows you to begin stepping away from the patterns that have been keeping your symptoms alive.

Is my problem too severe, complicated or long-standing to change?

Many people worry that their situation is different, too complicated or has been going on for too long.

When you have tried several things and your symptoms keep returning, it is completely understandable to feel doubtful or believe that nothing will work for you.

During the consultation, I will listen carefully to your situation and explain honestly how I may be able to help. I will also tell you if I do not believe my programme is right for you, so that you leave with a clearer understanding of your next steps and how you can move forward.

Do I need to book a consultation before starting?

Yes. It is important that the programme feels right for you and that I am confident I can help.

The consultation gives us both an opportunity to talk through your situation, explore what you would like to change and decide whether working together is the right next step.

What happens during the free consultation, and will I be pressured to go ahead?

The consultation is a free, friendly and informative conversation. It is simply an opportunity for you to explain what has been happening, ask questions and find out more about how the programme works. There is no pressure and no obligation to go ahead. The purpose is to help you understand your options and decide what feels right for you.
